Greenhills Community Centre was buzzing last Monday night to the sounds of legs eleven, two fat ladies and full house all in aid of Blossom Ireland!
Welcome To Our New Blossom Buddies Leaders
Last Saturday saw us kick off a new term of Blossom Buddies, and also the very first term of our new service – Blossom Buddies Gateway.
This couldn’t have happened without four new talented and passionate people coming on board to facilitate and lead these projects. We’d like to give a huge Blossom welcome to Orna, Bronagh, Emma, and Collie.
Orna Fynes is a qualified Social Care Worker and has a particular interest in providing training in the area of independent living and life skills to people with intellectual disability. Orna’s final year research topic for her degree was ‘The Use of Alternative Communication Strategies When working with People with Intellectual Disability. We are delighted to have Orna join us as a Blossom Buddies Facilitator.
Bronagh Flynn completed her PhD Thesis on ‘Anxiety and Stress in Adolescents with Higher Functioning ASD’. Bronagh currently also works as a part time
Lecturer and Tutor. Bronagh has previously worked in summer camps and respite and home settings with children with intellectual disability. We are delighted to have Bronagh join us as a Blossom Buddies Facilitator.
Emma Maher is a Primary School teacher with Postgraduate qualifications in the area of Special Needs. Emma has successfully been running ‘Team Marvel’ a Youth Club for Teenagers with disabilities in South Dublin since 2014. We are delighted to have Emma join us as a Blossom Buddies Facilitator.
Collie Patton has spent the last five years working in Programme Director Roles in disability organisations in Canada. During this time Collie worked both directly and indirectly with children and teenagers with disabilities. Collie has a Diploma in Youth Work and Community Development. We are delighted to have Collie join us as a Blossom Buddies Facilitator.
